Dear Parents,
In an effort to keep you informed, we are notifying you regarding an incident in which a student was found with a knife on campus, and was showing it to other students.
Today, Monday, May 8, 2023, school administration and the School Resource Officer were informed that a student had a knife and was showing it to other students. Upon further investigation, the blade was discovered in the student’s possession and was immediately secured. There was no direct threat made to any students or staff, however, the student will be held accountable according to the Code of Conduct. There was no disruption to the school day and operations will continue as normal.
Safety of students and staff is a top priority. We take incidents such as these extremely seriously, and want our parents to be informed. Please speak with your children about the serious consequences of bringing inappropriate items to school. If you see something, say something. Any suspicious behavior should be reported to an adult or school administrator, or by contacting the Columbia County School District anonymous tip hotline at 706-541-3600.
